The Miss Model Pageant

Althea Jones founded Gown Chic with the belief that every woman deserves to feel like a princess. She put that philosophy into action on July 31, 2010 by providing evening gowns for 10 young ladies competing in the 2010 Miss Model Pageant in Elyria, Ohio.

The Miss Model pageant was a true embodiment of Gown Chic's royal philosophy; the event was geared toward illuminating the inner beauty of all women, regardless of shape and size, in a culture where weight has become one of the most critical determinants of a women's worth. With this in mind, all of the young women entering the competition were bestowed with the title of “Lady” and displayed their individuality and poise attired in Althea's finest.

The event culminated in the crowning of a new Miss Model Queen, Lady Amina Mohammed, a beautiful, well-rounded young woman, with aspirations of becoming a doctor. The first runner-up was the eloquent and charming Lady Jami Kinton, crowned Miss Model Princess after impressing upon the judges the importance of being a good example. “A true role model is someone who believes the spotlight is on her, even after the curtain has closed," she said.

Miss Model event founder, Alexandra Russo, shared that, “This show is meant to give all girls an equal opportunity in the modeling world. When auditioning these girls, all that mattered to us was their personalities. I can help someone achieve a desired look or talent, but I cannot give them a personality. We use entertainment to express an important and inspiring message to our audience.”

A former Miss Model Queen herself, Alexandra chose to work with Gown Chic because of their ample selection of beautiful gowns. Miss Russo was also grateful to Gown Chic for doing a fitting at one of their rehearsals. She was so impressed by their commitment to costumer service, that she later brought all of the girls into the store, to try on dresses together.

At Gown Chic, pageant contestants are not the only people who receive the royal treatment. Kim, a costumer from Vermilion, Ohio writes, "The owner, Althea, goes out of her way to make your appointment feel special. She hand-picks gowns in your size in advance so everything is prepared for your appointment - no searching through racks of dresses to find the right size. She had a great assortment of dresses for my daughter to try on, and got us the dress very quickly in plenty of time for prom. Gown Chic is the perfect place to find a beautiful, quality gown at an amazing price."

Dedicated to giving a luxurious personal shopping experience to all women in search of a prom dress or gown, Gown Chic is a beautiful environment in which to find the perfect dress for your next formal event. Gown Chic's inventory and accessories are handpicked by a professional buyer and representative of the hottest styles on the runway today. Patrons can buy or rent many popular labels from Jessica McClintock to Vera Wang in sizes 0 – 18. Their knowledgeable staff provides you with one-on-one consultation, so you can shop on your own or by appointment. And, according to their Web site, “You are encouraged to bring a friend or two to help with your decision, while enjoying a chocolate morsel.” Inner beauty, fashion, and chocolate; If that's not a recipe for the making of a Princess, I don't know what is.
