The perfect dress

Finding the perfect dress has become just as important as finding the perfect man. You cannot settle - it has to be the ONE!

For any bride-to-be, it is important to feel special - almost princess-like - when on the hunt for the dress.

The Perfect Bride, located on Old Detroit Road in Rocky River, has been making brides feel special while searching for the perfect dress since 1992.

This quaint boutique should be on every bride's list to visit when looking for a dress for her special day. The store is open Tuesday to Saturday and by appointment only on Sundays.

Cathy Kuhn has owned The Perfect Bride for five and a half years, and her daughter, Carly, is the shop manager. They employ about five saleswomen and three seamstresses.

The Perfect Bride is a full service bridal shop, which means it carries everything ladies need for weddings, including mother-of-the-bride dresses, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, garters, guest books, you name it. Beverly Clark Collection is their provider for many of these items.

They are the only shop in Cleveland that carries designer Paloma Blanca, and it’s their top seller. The line has about a dozen dresses with pockets, and that is a growing trend for bridal gowns. Carly says the designer makes the simplest dresses that are high in quality and fabric.

Strapless has been a top style for years, but now ball gowns, ruffles, straps, and one-shoulders are becoming trendy.

Eggplant, deep purples, bright yellow, black and some pink are well-liked colors for bridesmaid dresses.

Toni Federici is the top choice of veils because they are customizable.

The Perfect Bride is well organized by designer for all gowns, and the charming atmosphere makes it a nice place to browse. An added bonus for brides, the alteration price is included on the price tag since the dresses are altered in house and do not leave the shop until the wedding date nears.

The mother and daughter duo go through magazines daily for new fresh looks or designers. Twice a year they go through the inventory process and purchase gown from around nine vendors - that means a lot of dresses!

A reward to working at a bridal shop is the excitement when the a bride-to-be finds the perfect dress. Carly enjoys the relationships built, being involved in the entire process from start to end [at each appointment] and meeting cool people.

Cathy said they truly want to help every bride have the perfect wedding. That starts with taking a stop in at The Perfect Bride, meeting the friendly staff and gazing through the beautiful one-of-a-kind gown selection.
