Alexandria Kakoules

Alexandria Kakoules has always been captivated by the fashion industry. As a child growing-up in Canton, Ohio, her family’s wedding dress shop essentially became her very own playground. It was there where she became exposed to a world of creativity and beauty, one where the atmosphere was simply magical. Women of all ages were transformed into royalty before her very eyes.

Until the day of the photo shoot, I had seen only sketches of Jill Krieger’s senior collection. What I saw in the sketches was beautiful, delicate and original, however, what I saw as the garment bag unzipped on the morning of the photo shoot was breathtaking.

Margie Paolicchi

Kent State University senior fashion design major Margie Paolicchi has been sewing for 12 years. What was once a hobby became a career choice the minute she realized she could apply her creativity to an occupation in the fashion industry. Paolicchi has spent the past few years studying design, interning at big-name labels and working on her collection for the spring fashion show, Re:Create.

Chelsea Paskvan

Growing up in Huntington Beach, Calif., senior fashion design major Chelsea Paskvan was born with a scientist’s eye and a sophisticate’s sense of beauty. Moving east and attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Paskvan taught fashion design and construction before bringing her talent to Kent, Ohio, and spreading it across the globe.

Re:CREATE, The Annual Spring Fashion Show was held Saturday April 24, at Kent State University, featuring designs from over 60 fashion design students. One of those students was senior fashion design student Emily Nash.

Melissa Kubik

In the midst of senior “Hades Week” - the absolutely busiest week of the year for seniors - I had the pleasure of meeting with the beautiful and talented Melissa Kubik. Melissa is a senior fashion designer at Kent State University, and she enthusiastically prepares and puts the finishing touches on her garments before presenting them. In spite of her chaotic schedule, I was able to meet with her to ask her a few questions regarding her very glamorous collection.

Natalie Jupp

Natalie Jupp always loved art and shopping while growing up in Cincinnati. She enjoyed being creative, and when she began learning how to sew in high school, she was guided in the direction of studying fashion design at Kent State University. Natalie chose to major in technical design, dealing with pattern making and construction of garments.

Melissa Egbers is the kind of person who you can immediately tell is confident, beautiful and a total fashion guru.
