More than 40 years ago, Knuth’s started as a family-owned shoe store on the east side of Cleveland. Since purchasing the store in 1987, John and Sherri Bryan have helped evolve the store into a boutique with a ton of footwear.

Girl Next Door

The Girl Next Door boutique is located in the heart of Rocky River in Old Detroit Rd. This year, it was voted one of the "Best of the West" places to shop. The shop was founded by sisters Laura and Lisa Pikul, both graduates of Kent State University with fashion degrees. The sisters previously lived in California for many years before returning to Cleveland and opening a shop five years ago.

‘Tis the season for stylish gift-giving

The countdown for Christmas has begun for many children and adults as they begin creating wish lists. People worry about breaking budgets to give loved ones meaningful presents, but there is no need to spend a fortune.

Freak-Da-Show

The second annual Freak-Da-Show Sexy, Scary, and Seductive Fashion Show presented by Fabiola Productions and the Mercury Lounge was held on Friday, Oct. 30th. The Bacardi Bat Vixens made a special appearance, and each attendee received a complimentary Bacardi cocktail with a $5 admission.

Blue Orchid Handbags

Blue Orchid handbag designer Jackie Adamany began making handbags three years ago. She has been sewing for over 30 years, and with her love of handbags she thought it was, “only natural to take my creativity into the direction of designing and sewing handbags.”

Believe in Cleveland

Believe in Cleveland. That is how Timothy Kilkenny and a handful of local designers feel about the city of Cleveland. A month ago, they founded a web-based business called Collision Bend Clothing. The shirts they design are meant to be fun with Cleveland history and the suburbs.

Sip & Stroll

On the second Thursday of every month (until September) from 5-8 p.m., the boutiques in Old Detroit open their doors to an event called Sip & Stroll. It is a nice way to advertise their stores and spice up shopping in Old Detroit with a glass of wine. The crowds vary from start to finish, and the shoppers seem to enjoy the mood the event brings.

Beautifully drawn

The fashion illustrations of Suzanne Gilbert and Salvador Miguel are now on display at the Geode Gallery in Tremont. Gallery owner Gillian Barnes had seen the work of both illustrations and wanted to show them together because they are neat and fit together. When asked what her favorite piece was, Barnes had a tough time. She picked her favorite piece from both artists: Fall from Grace by Miguel and an untitled watercolor by Gilbert.

A Celebration of Summer

A Celebration of Summer fashion show, held at Brothers Lounge on July 19, 2009, benefited the Domestic Violence Center.
