style tips

Age with style

I have first-handedly witnessed women who have committed fashion faux pas by trying to look like they were in their early 20s again… when they weren’t. Whether it was by squeezing into a pair of destructed purple skinny jeans or wearing a heart and star printed hoodie, it wasn’t pretty.

Fashion resolutions 2010

It's time to ring in the new year! In addition to the usual annual resolutions - work out more often, eat healthier, etc. - the Fashionably Cleveland staff made fashion-specific resolutions to help us celebrate 2010 in style. Here are our fashion resolutions for 2010:

Get Diva Style!

New York Fashion Week

New York’s Spring 2010 Fashion Week gloomed and doomed the audience for the first few days. As the week drearily progressed, it also became apparent that most designers fit into one of two categories: salable clothing or clothing based upon fantasy.

Recession chic

Fashion is impacted by everything happening in our ever-changing culture. With the current economic downturn, people have to be budget savvy, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. Trends for the fall reflect the current recession, and a lot of these trends are staple items that can be worn many different ways. These seven trends are all influenced by the economy today, as well as the recession that occurred during the 80s.

Organizing your closet: a step-by-step guide

Getting your closet in order is actually very fulfilling and can be fun as well. Once you get it done you will have a sense of accomplishment plus extra time since dressing in your new space will be quick and easy because you will know where everything is and ready to wear. The problem most of us encounter is just getting started. Most of us just don’t know where to begin.

All the glamorous details

“I die!” declares celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe after looking at a vintage Oscar De La Renta dress during Season 1 of The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo. Zoe, author of Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, and Everything Glamour, dramatically gushes over everything glamorous. She writes, “In my book, glamour is pure lifestyle.”

Get ready for summer style

Incorporate top fashion elements into your wardrobe, and flaunt your own individual style this summer. Here’s what to look for.

Trends that should end

Throughout the years, some trends have been brought back into your daily wardrobe (i.e. leggings, chunky jewelry, mod print, etc). When you flip through any fashion magazine, there lie the ‘Do's’ and ‘Don’t's' of trends. Below are just some of the ‘don’t's.’ Not even the A- or D-listers of Hollywood can pull these off.

Inspiring design

The visual and textual appeal created through the collaboration of designer Daniel Vosovic and photographer Michael Turek is apparent on every page of "Fashion Inside Out: Daniel V’s Guide to How Style Happens from Inspiration to Runway & Beyond." From the first touch of the soft, felt cover to the stylistically, scripted signature on the last page, the reader experiences inspiring images through form, color and language. Vosovic’s narration is supported by Turek’s visual story, as they explain how a garment moves through the design process from the moment of inspiration to the hands of the consumer.
