Remington College offers free prom makeovers

Remington College Prom Night Makeover

It's prom season, and Remington College is offering free salon services to help high school students attend the big event in style. For the seventh year, Remingon College campuses across the country - including the one here in Cleveland - are hosting a Prom Night Makeover event.

Students studying cosmotology in the Remington College Cosmetology Program will provide prom-bound high school girls with free updos, manicures, pedicures, makeup and applications, and free haircuts for high school boys.

The annual event aligns with the College's philanthropic mission. "A big part of Remington College’s mission as a non-profit college is to give back to the community. Prom Night Makeover is the perfect opportunity to do that," said Remington College’s Cleveland Campus Cosmetology Lead Instructor, Charles Woolbright, via e-mail.

And, because the program not only helps give back to the community, but also helps provide training for future cosmotoligits, it's a win-win, said Woolbright. "Prom Night Makeover is an opportunity for cosmetology students to practice their skills on actual clients," he said. "We also know how expensive makeup, hair and nails can be for prom. Every kid deserves to have their Cinderella treatment without it costing a fortune. The services we offer during Prom Night Makeover could easily cost between $200 and $300 at other salons."

Since the start of the Prom Night Makeover program, nationally Remington College has provided more than 3,000 high school students with free salon services.

All Prom Night Makeover services will be provided in The Salon at Remington, located at 14801 Broadway Ave. in Maple Heights, on May 12, 13, 19 and 20. Salon hours are 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and 6:30-8p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 216-584-2490.
