Three steps to finding your personal style

Personal style - Ohio fashion

Finding your own style is a process; it’s not something that happens overnight. Luckily, you can start to develop your own style in three easy-to-follow steps:

1. Find inspiration. Start to take notice of styles that appeal to you. You might find inspiration in people you know, celebrities, bloggers - anyone! Collect looks you like (Pinterest is perfect for this!) and watch as themes and patterns develop. Keep these trends in mind the next time you're shopping.

2. Figure out what works for you. Take an honest look at your lifestyle and where you spend most of your time. For example, if you spend most of your time at the office, you'll want to make sure most of your wardrobe consists of work-friendly outfits. Similarly, you don't want to end up with a closet full of blazers if you spend the majority of your time at the gym.

3. Refine what you have. Before doing any major overhauling of your wardrobe, take a serious look at the clothes aready in your closet. If you haven't worn a piece of clothing in a year, donate or sell it. As you’re refining your wardrobe, look back on your inspiration sources and see what pieces you don’t have that appear frequently in those outfits - that’s what you should buy.
