Get ready for fall!

Twice a year, Fashion Group International releases a trend report of the top styles to watch for. Here's a rundown of the trends for fall and winter, according to FGI.

Brains & Beauty

Cleveland native Kelly A. Dobos MS is making her mark on the beauty world, both as a Cosmetic Chemist in the Skin Beauty Research Lab at Kao USA and creator of Jergens Natural Glow and Protect. We had the opportunity to talk to Dobos about her background, her line of work and what her influences are.

Online style

On Aug. 4, 2012, three local bloggers took part in a panel discussion about fashion blogging at Online Style: Blogging Local Fashion, held at Nexus Cafe & Coffeehouse in Cleveland. Christina Phillis (The Cosmopolitan Cleveland), Dina Younis (Dina's Days) and Jessica Noelle (Midwest Muse) tackled topics such as how to start a blog, how to engage readers and how to decide what to blog about.

Wearable art

Michelle Pajak-Reynolds has a busy summer ahead of her, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. The Cleveland jewelry designer, originating from Mentor, is recognized nationally, as well as internationally, for her intricate, beautiful designs. Not to mention her fast-talking, passionate, perfectionist style.

Form to Fashion 2012

On June 9, 2012, eight fashion design students gathered at Beachwood Place for the Form to Fashion competition. Each student presented her design to a panel of three judges: Lorelei Shellist, author and former runway model, Conor O'Malley, Nordstrom stylist, and Vanni Wang, fashion designer and owner of Lucio Vanni, LLC.

ONE Styling

More often than not, you hear about companies that began in Cleveland and sometimes choose to leave. For local hair tool company ONE Styling, the opposite happened. They chose to stay.

The Banyan Tree Spring 2012 Fashion Show

The trendy area of Tremont in Cleveland is quite possibly the closest resemblance to a New York City neighborhood that a Northeast Ohioan can experience close to home. This is due in no small part to the delicious restaurants, stylish people and very chic, very fashionable retail boutiques like the Banyan Tree that have become Tremont mainstays.

Fashion Week Cleveland 2012

Fashion Week Cleveland's black tie gala was held at the Halle Department Store Building on May 12, 2012.

Good Style

The Good Style fashion show was held on May 3, 2012, as a benefit for Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. The show, held at Cleveland Botanical Garden, featured clothing found in Goodwill stores made "runway fresh" by students from Ursuline College and local fashion bloggers.

Innovations '12

Innovations '12, featuring the work of Ursuline College fashion students, was held on April 29, 2012. The collections shown included collaborative class work - "Paper Dresses", "Apparel Construction", "Draping & Flat Pattern", a preview to student work that will be featured in the Goodwill Good Style show in May, and senior projects.
